About mHub

mHub is a global mental health organization that helps people achieve mental and emotional wellbeing. We are a social purpose business that strives to bridge the gaps in access and quality of mental health services worldwide, with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries in Africa.

mHub Vision:

To contribute to sustainable development by improving the mental health of all.

mHub Mission:

To reduce the burden of mental health disorders through bridging gaps in promotion, prevention, and care, by:

  • Destigmatizing mental illnesses;
  • Empowering people to take good self-care and cultivate resilience;
  • Supporting people through curative and non-curative wellbeing interventions;
  • Influencing national health policies by advancing mental health research and advocacy; and
  • Becoming the first-choice organizational wellness services provider in Africa.

A message from the mHub Founder:

“I’ve always been an incredibly resilient person and never gave my mental health and wellbeing a second thought. And then came COVID-19… Out of a sudden, our lives had changed dramatically. Our routines were disrupted. We no longer knew what was to come. We faced concerns for our personal health, for our families, and for our livelihoods. And with that came an enormous amount of stress. It was during the darkest hours that I realized that even the most resilient people are seriously vulnerable.

Our mental health and wellbeing are incredibly precious; we all need to take proactive care of ourselves. Realizing that many people worldwide lack access to even the most basic quality mental health services, I founded mHub in order to help overcome this enormous challenge.”

Dr. Michael Grosspietsch
Founder & President of mHub

Mental health is one of the most important priorities of our time

People who are not in good mental health can’t connect with others, be productive, solve problems, or contribute meaningfully to society. Mental health affects every aspect of our lives and it plays a crucial role in our ability to function well – emotionally, psychologically, and socially. Employees’ mental health influences how they feel, think, and ultimately act.

The Covid-19 pandemic has not only significantly aggravated the state of mental health of many people around the globe. It has also led to an increased awareness of the critical challenge that mental ill health poses. Even before the pandemic, mental illnesses accounted for more than 10% of all diseases globally. The World Health Organization predicts that, by 2030, mental health will be the biggest crisis that we are facing on the planet.

Furthermore, we are in the midst of a burnout pandemic. Chronic stress was rampant even before the Covid-19 pandemic and has now worsened further. The high stress levels of employees have serious consequences for their work life and stress negatively impacts work performance.

With exponential growth in the awareness around global mental health challenges, promoting good mental health and wellbeing in the workplace has become the collective responsibility of every organization. Research has found that healthier and happier workplaces lead to improved employee morale, increased employee satisfaction, increased employee engagement and team effectiveness, lower rates of employee absenteeism, reduced presenteeism (improved on-the-job focus), and higher levels of employee retention.
